Earlier this month, on December 12th, Legacy Global Foundation took one of its first steps on the ground in Aro Town, Lekki, in Lagos State. Vera, our Head of Operations in Nigeria, led the delivery of our first giving to Vigilant Heart Orphanage, a moment that marked the beginning of what we hope will be a lasting and meaningful journey.
Vigilant Heart Orphanage has been serving children since 2007, providing care, safety, and stability to motherless babies, orphans, and abandoned children. Today, the home supports 88 children, ranging from toddlers as young as two years old to young adults who are now attending university, a powerful testament to what long-term commitment and care can achieve.
Our team was welcomed with open arms by Mrs Maria Osawemen, the founder of the centre, her dedicated team, and the children themselves. As we delivered, we shared a moment of prayer and gratitude altogether, a pause to acknowledge not only the support being given, but the resilience, strength, and dignity of the community receiving it. This visit was about more than food or supplies; it was about partnership. By helping ease immediate concerns around nourishment, we hope to create space for Vigilant Heart to focus on what comes next: strengthening care, planning forward, and continuing the important work they do each day. It is about standing alongside communities, not just meeting needs, but helping to lift and support them as they move forward with confidence.
